Ann Arbor Track Club -- News and Updates for Wednesday, April 18 (Youth Track practice will be held tonight -- regardless of the weather)

18 Apr 2018 by Aramide Pinheiro-Boatswain

All,

Here is some news and updates for Wednesday, April 18:

YOUTH TRACK PRACTICE TONIGHT

There is rain in the forecast this evening for the Ann Arbor area during our practice time (6:30 – 8:30 PM). However, we have secured the use of the “Indoor Training Center” in the event the rain is too heavy to train outdoors (we practice outside if the rain is light). So we will not cancel practice tonight due to weather. Everyone coming tonight should again meet at the “old” UM outdoor track first at 6:30 PM. If we are forced to go inside we have to wait until 7 PM until the Lacrosse team (which is scheduled to the use Indoor Training Center tonight) gets done. The Indoor Training Center (formerly known as the “Indoor Track Building”) is now an indoor turf facility, and is right across the parking lot from the outdoor track. Keep in mind there are no bleachers in this indoor facility anymore — parents should bring folding chairs if they wish to sit.

Please keep in mind that UM now has a new outdoor track on South State street just north of Eisenhower Parkway — don’t go there !!
Go to the old outdoor track (the one we used last year and also on Monday — 1150 S State St). Also keep in mind that we cannot use track spike shoes on this new indoor turf field, since the metal spike pins may damage the turf — we have to wear regular running shoes instead.

COMMON QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Based on the questions that were asked by some of the new parents at the Team Meeting last Wednesday night, I have created a new document containing the answers to common questions. This document will eventually be posted on our “Team App” web-site. But I have attached the document here for now.

SPECIAL THANKS (INDOOR SEASON RECAP)

As I mentioned at the Team Meeting last Wednesday, there are some parents not on our coaching staff I gave special recognition for their contributions during this past indoor season. Some of them could not attend the meeting, so here are all their names again to acknowledge them:

- Aramide Pinheiro-Boatswain: for handling many of the “Team App” e-mail (broadcast) communications

- Dawn Blair: for administering first aid during practice to athletes who were injured.

- Kim Tanana: for handling our fundraising activities, especially the one we currently have with “Kroger” this past year.

Aramide, Dawn and Kim — thank you all very much !!

AGAIN: If you are not interested in the Ann Arbor Track Club Youth Outdoor season, please let me know so I can remove you from the club outdoor track distribution list. Ron Beasley (734-330-7931)
